Carolyn is searching for her best friend Rebecca, who has dropped everything to join a suspicious intentional community run by a billionaire out of an abandoned mall in the countryside.
As the search progresses, she teams up with a local journalist who is bent on exposing the truth about the community’s founder, a man who claims to be a “good guy” on a mission to buy back student loan debt from people who deserve a break and some time away from the challenges of everyday life.
But the closer Carolyn gets to the mall, the more haunting and disorientating the community seems, and the further out of reach Rebecca becomes. Suddenly Carolyn is battling with the memories of her sister’s mysterious disappearance over twenty years ago.
As her sense of reality unravels, she begins to think she might be seeing her twin’s adult ghost, and she feels that the mall is somehow behind it.
